You have no idea. You just believe what Fox News tells you - and they are liars.

So should Tootsie be removed from the airwaves? or The Birdcage?

You SAY you support LGBTQ+ rights - but you obviously do not. You want this real witch hunt. Let's be clear: In the case of the Tennessee bill, they can go after ANYTHING. But you truly think that cross-dressing is a horror no child should see, don't you?
How about the New York City or LA or SF parades.
It is always the minority thar messes things up.
Nice strawman argument on Tootsie and The Birdcage

These are not Tennessee. And you don’t know anything true about the other parades - just what Fox News tells you. And they don’t tell the truth.

And it’s not a straw man argument. What is there about people cross-dressing that scares you so much?

No, it's YOUR side that's scared shitless of people in drag, and wanting to ban it nationwide.

Why don't you explain why the movie Tootsie should be banned?

Have you ever been to a Gay Parade? I have been to three of them. Twice, by accident and once on purpose to register voters. The first one I saw was in England in 1995 when I and two female friends visited London. When we came out of the Tube, we heard shouting, music, and whistles and then we say the Gay Parade. The second time was in Las Vegas at night when I was in the downtown area. As I waited to cross the street with a couple of dozen other people, I heard shouting, music, and whistles and it was because there was a Gay Pride parade coming down the street.

In both instances, I saw nothing that I wouldn't let a child of any age see. It was no more raunchy than seeing pretty women in bathing suits in a regular parade.

He’s a corporatist pawn.

Joe Manchin said he identifies 'as an American' when asked if he still thinks of himself as a Democrat, again dodging a question on his party loyalties

Sen. Joe Manchin dodged a question on Sunday about whether he still thinks of himself as a member of the Democratic Party.

Manchin was interviewed on the talk show "Sunday Morning Futures," where Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo repeatedly pressed him to say whether he still considers himself a Democrat.

Blaise Ingoglia bill would ‘cancel’ Democratic Party

Sen. Blaise Ingoglia is sponsoring the “Ultimate Cancel Act,” which would eliminate all political parties that once used slavery as part of its platform.

While “Democratic Party” isn’t mentioned in the bill, Ingoglia said that’s his target.

Let's take a look at what Woke means since the GOP loves using this word.

Woke (/ˈwoʊk/ WOHK) is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination". Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as sexism, and has also been used as shorthand for American Left ideas involving identity politics and social justice, such as the notion of white privilege and slavery reparations for African Americans.

The phrase stay woke had emerged in AAVE by the 1930s, in some contexts referring to an awareness of the social and political issues affecting African Americans. The phrase was uttered in a recording by Lead Belly and later by Erykah Badu. During the 2014 Ferguson protests, the phrase was popularized by Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists seeking to raise awareness about police shootings of African Americans. After seeing use on Black Twitter, the term woke became an Internet meme and was increasingly used by white people, often to signal their support for BLM, which some commentators have criticised as cultural appropriation. Mainly associated with the millennial generation, the term spread internationally and was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.

The terms woke-washing and woke capitalism were coined to describe companies who signal support for progressive causes as a substitute for genuine change. By 2020, members of the political center and right wing in several Western countries were using the term woke, often in an ironic way, as an insult for various progressive or leftist movements and ideologies perceived as overzealous, performative, or insincere. In turn, some commentators came to consider it an offensive term with negative associations to those who promote political ideas involving identity and race.

Florida bill would require bloggers who write about governor to register with the state
https://www.wfla.com/news/politics/flor ... the-state/

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Sen. Jason Brodeur (R-Lake Mary) wants bloggers who write about Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and other members of the Florida executive cabinet or legislature to register with the state or face fines.

Brodeur’s proposal, Senate Bill 1316: Information Dissemination, would require any blogger writing about government officials to register with the Florida Office of Legislative Services or the Commission on Ethics.

In the bill, Brodeur wrote that those who write “an article, a story, or a series of stories,” about “the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, a Cabinet officer, or any member of the Legislature,” and receives or will receive payment for doing so, must register with state offices within five days after the publication of an article that mentions an elected state official.

If another blog post is added to a blog, the blogger would then be required to submit monthly reports on the 10th of each month with the appropriate state office. They would not have to submit a report on months when no content is published.

[snip][end]

So, Brodeur, question: what if the bloggers want to write about people in the state judiciary. Federal officials. GOP party officials. And they have to file monthly reports ... really?

Don't fret if you post anything about deSantis on this board ... Brodeur only insists you must register if you are getting paid.

For now.

BTW, I accept that people should be pursued if they post malicious disinformation about public officials - in any state (and in any party, of course) ... but we have laws about libel that can already handle that. This is just more of the FL gov's war on journalism and the 1st amendment.

Look if you guys don't like a democratically-elected government where you admit that when you lose an election, you lose, then go to Russia. They're even willing to give you 10 hectares of land! https://www.thecoli.com/threads/coli-re ... ts.963766/

Then you can go to war for a leader you can respect, right?

The only thing more confounding to me than C-SPAN wasting 3-4 days of air time to cover every moment of CPAC, is the fact that people who know what kind of disgusting rhetoric will fill this entire weekend will still watch every second of it.

I don't need to teach pigs to sing. It wastes my time and annoys the pigs. I let them grunt away while I devote my attention to more relevant and less maddening pursuits.

If more people ignored these bleatings of the unsophisticated, maybe they'd have less clout in DC.
