Former NFL Player Gets in Fight with Airline Employee

Very poor journalism as I believe the employee struck and pushed the customer first.
The customer has every right to defend himself and after he did the employee slapped him a second time.
While we do not know all the facts it appears at this point the employee was the aggressor.
As he was mad because the customer used a wheelchair instead of a luggage cart. But, only the former player was arrested. Which also seems wrong to me. Either arrest both or arrest neither.
This incident will probably cost the player his spot in the Canadian League as well as the XFL or USFL.
I hope the charges are dropped and he gets a very large settlement from the airline the airport as well as the agency which arrested him.
We should be able to go to the airport without being assaulted by airport employees

It could very well be just that. But I was surprised it occurred in Newark.

The white-conservative obsession with mythological #negrocrime is the only reason you started this thread.

The guy who fought with the Unite Airlines employee is an ex-NFL player now, probably not for long, playing for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. The United Airlines employee has been fired and Langley was arrested and released on his own recognizance.

In case you missed it I said from what we know at this point it appears the airport employee was the aggressor and the former player had a right to defend himself.

But don't let any of that interfere with your hatred of white people

Quit playing the victim of "hatred" on behalf of "white people," when you're not one.

If I hated so-called white people I would have nothing whatsoever to do with this board, and I sure as heck wouldn't be giving barely-literate confederates like you the time of day.

If you're a victim of anything, it's your own ages-old conservative white paranoia based in the WS propaganda you've imbibed your entire under-informed life. It's one of the tragedies of the white-supremacist lifestyle, but you're in luck: that way of life is a choice. You're free to un-choose it at any time.

White con supremacist fascist has to say you hate white people, otherwise he cant justify that he hates all POC and LGBTQ etc. I dont CARE if they have a POC in their family, their actions kill POC everyday.

It doesn’t matter who started it, both were wrong. From what I’ve read Langley was using an airport wheel chair, meant for those with handicaps, instead of an airport luggage cart and was told he could use the wheel chair for his luggage. Words were exchanged, tempers lost, and the fight occurred.

The United Airline employee was justifiably fired. He should have backed off and called security or a supervisor to defuse the situation. Langley may or not face criminal charges and his team will have to decide if they want this man representing their organization on and off the field.

He uses the POC in his family as a prop. He's just a baby, being used in this way by someone who is supposed to protect him. :(

Here's a reason I believe the employee was the aggressor.
The football player could have easily stomped a mud hole in that guys ass but as we see in the video he restrained himself.
Had he been the aggressor I doubt that would have happened.
As for it doesn't matter who threw the first punch. I disagree, the moment a person slaps you hits you or puts hands on you in an aggressive manner you have the right to defend yourself

From your article: It was unclear from the clip who threw the first punch

So we don't know who started it. But you don't care, do you? You just make it up in your mind.

But, as someone who flies A LOT - well, who FLEW a lot, but still probably flies more than anyone on this board - you don't use the wheelchairs to carry luggage. They are for the staff to use to transport passengers. Both my wife and father-in-law are transported through the airport in wheelchairs by staff when they fly, except when we take my wife's mobility scooter.

So, yes, he shouldn't have been using a wheelchair any more than he shouldn't be parking in handicapped spots.

I'll tell you what will happen here, as you pretend the player has been soooo wronged. The employee has lost his job. Any charges against the player will be dropped. So quit pretending injustice.

Speculative argument at best.

Why?

I go by the idea Issac Asimov put forth in his Foundation series when he wrote "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." While I agree a person has the right to defend themself from an aggressor the appropriate response to get away from the aggressor. While the video doesn't show what or who started the fight both participants had the opportunity to back off from the other. Neither of these numbnuts did that.

Any ADULT, if he were assaulted by an airline employee, would back off and get security, and once the video showed up, talked to their lawyer about big-time settlement from the airline.

But Glenn doesn't think like an adult.
