Leftist extremists blocked Joe Manchin saves our country once again

Doesn't take much to be a "leftist extremist" to a commiebaiting WS. One only need be left of George Wallace, 1968.

Or Ronald Reagan, 1990. And we all know what he did to "leftist extremists" in Central America.

Right?

So she recognizes that financial markets will be affected by climate disruptions - and they will - so the Fed has a responsibility to not ignore climate change.

In Bizarro America, I guess that makes her an extremist. Elsewhere, I noted that the financial industry supported her, for the most part, and previously she had gotten strong bipartisan support.

I have attended events over the years that featured different members of the FED board. They do cover a lot of territory and certainly consider a number of economic events which occur all over the globe. It is a global economy.

Oregon ends residency rule for medically assisted suicide

Oregon will no longer require people to be residents of the state to use its law allowing terminally ill people to receive lethal medication, after a lawsuit challenged the requirement as unconstitutional.

In a settlement filed in U.S. District Court in Portland on Monday, the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Medical Board agreed to stop enforcing the residency requirement and to ask the Legislature to remove it from the law.

Manchin, Sinema, Kelly sink Biden labor nominee

David Weil’s bid to head the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division was dealt a fatal blow Wednesday, after a trio of Senate Democrats voted against moving forward on his nomination.

Weil, now the first Biden nominee to fail on the Senate floor, has faced heated opposition from Republicans and business groups dating back to his prior stint in the position for the Obama administration, meaning that he’d havelikely needed unified Democratic support. The fate of the vote was still up in the air throughout Wednesday, as several key Democrats had been cagey about where they stood on Weil in recent days.

Such an interesting lady.

Reid's Records - wiki
Reid's Records was originally established by local sports hero Melvin "Mel" Reid and his then-wife Betty Reid Soskin on June 1, 1945,[5] using the ground floor of the duplex they lived in. The plan was to sell race records -- music that no white-owned business would sell -- to the burgeoning African-American population in the Bay Area,[3] which had quadrupled because of the war effort.[4] However, the record store wasn't the initial vehicle for this. Mel had first planned to start up a black jukebox business, but quickly discovered that retail was much more lucrative, as there was virtually no competition at the time for a business that sold black music.[2]

Mel worked at Kaiser Shipyards to earn money to buy records for inventory, while Betty sold the records retail through a window in their garage.[5] They started to invest in advertising: when Wynonie Harris released his landmark 78 record "Around the Clock", the Reids bought time on KRE to play the record and advertise it was available for sale at their establishment. This proved to be a breakthrough in the store's fortunes, bringing in immediate crowds of customers.[2]

At that point, the store still sold primarily jazz and blues music. In 1947, Mel launched a radio program on KRE named "Gospel Gems", and quickly became the leading DJ of black Gospel music in the Bay Area.[6] In 1951, Mel's uncle, Paul Reid, took over Mel's radio spot on KRE and became an extremely successful gospel DJ in his own right, later adding a second show "Spirituals at 6" to his slate, and then switching from KRE to KDIA.[6]

Paul and Mel branched out into the live music side of the business, working as promoters for the Oakland Auditorium with leading acts in the genre such as the Staple Singers, Five Blind Boys of Mississippi, James Cleveland, The Caravans, Davis Sisters, the Staple Singers, the Ward Singers, the Rev C. L. Franklin and his teenage daughter, a young Aretha Franklin.[2][5] The pair organized annual gospel extravaganza concerts with big-name acts, that also featured attractions like choir competitions, where the "winners" were awarded lavish trophy cups.[6][1] Mel continued to lean more heavily into gospel in Reid's Records, which further expanded their business. The Reids moved their operations out of their garage and into the storefront next door to their duplex. They quickly became the largest retailer of gospel records in the state of California,[2] and Paul and Mel became the most successful gospel promoters on the West Coast.[7] Paul started a Reid's Records record label, releasing singles by local gospel acts like The Lathanettes.[6]

In 1952, the Reid family moved into a house in Walnut Creek, California, and Betty largely dropped out of the day-to-day operation of the store in order to raise the family's four children.[5] They opened a second Reid's Records in nearby Oakland, California, and started buying up residential property around the Berkeley Reid's.[6]
More about this great record store in link.

3 men sentenced in Georgia forced farm labor investigation

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Three men have been sentenced to federal prison as part of a broad investigation into what authorities said was a wide-ranging conspiracy to bring workers from Central America to the United States for forced labor on south Georgia farms.

The three men were charged in separate but related cases related to a federal investigation dubbed Blooming Onion, prosecutors said in a news release. Authorities say the farm workers were brought into the U.S. on the H-2A agricultural visa program and then the men profited from their work by underpaying them and forcing them to live in substandard conditions.

U.S. and Germany takes down the world's largest dark web marketplace.
Authorities in Germany, in coordination with the U.S. Justice Department, shut down the Hydra Market Tuesday, a Russian-language site that they described as the world’s largest and longest-running illegal marketplace on the dark web.

German investigators said they seized cryptocurrency worth about $25 million dollars and said the site specialized in drug dealing. The site’s infrastructure was shut down in Germany, the result of an investigation that began eight months ago.

“Today the German Federal Criminal Police, in coordination with U.S. federal law enforcement, seized the servers of Hydra Market,” the Justice Department said in a brief statement. More details would be revealed later in the day, it said.

German authorities said the site had been active at least since 2015, offering illegal drugs, intercepted data and forged documents. They said it had more than 17 million customer accounts.
