Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she will resign from Congress in January

Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced Friday she is resigning from Congress next year, effective Jan. 5, 2026.

The bombshell development comes a week after President Donald Trump withdrew his support for Greene, one of his staunchest allies, after she criticized him and his administration for their handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, along with other matters.

She's probably done that to prepare for her run to be a Senator from Georgia in 2026. Resigning now moves her away from Trump and helps to improve her image.

I agree that MTG is in business for herself, and she spoke up and then resigned to distance herself from Trump, who became a liability rather than an asset.

Campbell's Soup executive fired over comments about their soup being for poor people and the chicken is 3-D printed.
The Campbell’s Company announced Wednesday that a top executive had been fired over “vulgar, offensive and false” comments he made to a former employee a year ago about its food being for “poor people.”

Robert Garza filed a lawsuit in Michigan last week accusing Martin Bally of mocking low-income consumers and making other disparaging remarks. Garza was fired just weeks after informing his manager of the conversation, according to the complaint, which alleges retaliation.

In the recording, Bally can be heard saying, “Who buys our s—?”

“I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore. It’s not healthy now that I know what the f— [is] in it,” he said, according to the audio. “Bioengineered meat, I don’t want to eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer.”

The decision by one of the profession’s most storied organizations to remove the veteran Democratic economist comes after newly-released emails revealed the depth of his relationship with Epstein.

Man accused of planting pipe bombs before Jan. 6 Capitol attack is charged with explosives offenses

WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI on Thursday arrested a man accused of placing two pipe bombs outside the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic national parties in Washington on the eve of the U.S. Capitol attack, an abrupt breakthrough in an investigation that for years flummoxed law enforcement and spawned conspiracy theories about Jan. 6, 2021.

The arrest marks the first time investigators have publicly identified a suspect in an act that has been an enduring mystery for nearly five years in the shadow of the violent Capitol insurrection.

Re:Bowen Yang to leave SNL

Post by Number6 »

One of the best comedic actors on Saturday Night Live is leaving the show after six years.
After a wildly successful tenure on the show, Yang, 35, will exit the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in the midst of Season 51, the breakout star confirmed. Yang will leave following the Dec. 20 episode,

“I loved working at SNL, and most of all i loved the people. i was there at a time when many things in the world started to seem futile, but working at 30 rock taught me the value in showing up anyway when people make it worthwhile," Yang wrote on a Saturday, Dec. 20 Instagram post featuring a carousel of photos.

Yang, for his part, appears positioned to make that transition easily. Having snagged a costarring role in both "Wicked" and "Wicked: Part 2," the comedian's big screen bona fides are hardly in doubt. His podcast, "Las Culturistas," which he co-hosts with friend Matt Rodgers, has also earned independent acclaim.

Of the cast of SNL, my two favorites are Bowen Yang and Kenan Thompson and Bowen will sorely be missed.

Denmark ends postal letter service

Denmark will end letter delivery on December 30, 2025, after more than 400 years. Denmark is the first country to end postal mail, but it probably won’t be the last. Letter volumes have fallen worldwide as electronic messages have become the norm for text communication.

Denmark’s postal mail volume has dropped by over 90% since the start of the century, compared with an average drop of 50%-60% in other countries of Europe and North America. This is because Denmark has had a sustained government policy of promoting electronic transactions between government, business, and individuals. Most Danes carry even their driving licenses and health cards digitally, on their phones, instead of as physical pieces of paper and plastic.

What could go wrong?

One can always Google "Carrington Event."

Even their AI gets it:
A Carrington Event-level solar storm today would unleash a massive surge of charged particles, causing widespread, long-duration blackouts by frying large transformers, knocking out satellites, disabling GPS, disrupting global communications (internet, phones), affecting transportation, banking, water, and sewage systems, potentially leaving millions without power for weeks or months, leading to major societal disruption and economic devastation. While the 1859 event only damaged telegraphs, modern interconnected systems make us far more vulnerable to cascading failures.

There's a whole underground of righty celebrities. I wonder if they still meet for breakfast on Wednesday mornings. Those used to be notorious.

Music? The fact that people make handsome sums of money for chanting hate speech or sexist crap to the accompaniment of machines, and year after year this dominates the music market, is all you need to know about where we are as a civilization right now.

Good riddance fraud

Eric Adams’ curtain call

It’s the final day of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ tumultuous, historic tenure. Come midnight, his single term will come to a close as Zohran Mamdani is sworn in as the city’s next mayor.

But don’t expect it to be a slow last day. Adams hasn’t ruled out making a flurry of last minute vetoes on his way out the door. Adams’ opposition has been in the forecast – City Hall stood against a handful of hotly contested housing measures passed by the City Council at its final meeting of the year. (The Daily News reported last week that the mayor could veto 20 or more bills.)
