When I went to bed last night it felt like I had a cold coming on. By the time I got under the covers, I had cold shivers and had to get out another blanket and put it on top of the bedspread. I was thinking about getting out my down-filled comforter but I figure I’d be burning up in about 19 minutes. It took me awhile for the cold shivers to disappear and then I was going from feeling cold to hot to cold to hot throughout the night. I didn’t get much sleep and I stayed in bed until about 9 am. I’m feeling almost back to to normal with just a little pain around the eyes like I’ve been out in the sun too long. I’ll continue to take it easy for the rest of the day and take some naps to catch up on the sleep I missed last night.

Why did you defend Shakespeare in the park but are now outraged.
Btw no they don't want another civil war. That is pure tinfoil hat material.

Did you see the video? Of course not.
Yes, they DO want a civil war. That's what the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and all those folks are all about. And they want it to be all about race.
Re: The Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
No, it's not tin foil hat material. If you followed social media and the huge uptick in MAGA Domestic Terrorists calling for it, as well as the now leaders of the GOP calling for it, like MTG, Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, louie Gohmert, Mike Flynn, Wendy Rogers, Steve Bannon, Donald Trump before he was kicked off Twitter, as well as their media arms, you'd know this. Fox News has also run segments and polls on whether or not America should break up.
Just because you don't follow what's going on or your brain can't deal with reality, so denial is a safe space, doesn't mean it's tin foil hat material.

That couple was looking for trouble and they found it. Who walks into a store recording unless you're looking at trying to get a reaction for someone in the store? I guess these two idiots thought they were "owning" the store owner by trying to provoke her. Well, they can now explain that to the judge because like Sammy Davis said on Laugh-in, back in the late 60s, "Here Comes the Judge."marindem01 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 3:32 pm A Man and A Woman walk into a Cookie Store to prove some asinine point being forced to wear a mask. New poll shows Americans who trust conservative media outlets more likely to believe COVID-19 misinformation
A new poll has found that Americans who consume more right-wing media are far more likely to believe misinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccine against it.
In a survey released Monday by the Kaiser Family Foundation, respondents were asked about eight different misconceptions about the pandemic, ranging from “The government is exaggerating the number of COVID-19 deaths” to “The COVID-19 vaccines can change your DNA.” The survey found that 78 percent of Americans either believe or aren’t sure about at least one of the statements. However, the numbers varied greatly depending on party affiliation, vaccination status and source of news.

A federal judge has overruled the Texas mask mandate ban, as it violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.
On Thursday, the announcement was made regarding the overturning of the mandate, set forth by Governor Greg Abbott in May. There has been a long-standing legal battle between parents, disability rights organizations and Texas officials regarding the possibility that Texas was violating the 1990 law, known as ADA.
Recently, U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel barred Attorney General Ken Paxton from enforcing Abbott's order.

Horrible news
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandso ... l-pandemicHow SARS-CoV-2 in American deer could alter the course of the global pandemic
Now veterinarians at The Pennsylvania State University have found active SARS-CoV-2 infections in at least 30% of deer tested across Iowa during 2020. The study, published online last week, suggests that white-tailed deer could become what's known as a reservoir for SARS-CoV-2. That is, the animals could carry the virus indefinitely and spread it back to humans periodically.
If that's the case, it would essentially dash any hopes of eliminating or eradicating the virus in the U.S. — and therefore in the world — says veterinary virologist Suresh Kuchipudi at Penn State, who co-led the study.

they end up with over 15 billion dollars more than they started out with in 2020.......Marvin Malek, a doctor who treats covid patients from both sides of the river at Springfield Hospital in Vermont, said New Hampshire covid patients are now facing business as usual from insurers, suffering the same sort of financial stress that routinely affects patients with cancer, heart disease and other serious ailments.
“The inhumanity of our health-care system and the tragedies it creates will now resume and will now cover this one group that was exempted,'' he said. “The U.S. health-care system is sort of like a game of musical chairs where there are not enough chairs, and some people are going to get hurt and devastated financially.”
Hospitals also are in the position of having to resume billings and collections for individuals who may have been laid off because of the pandemic or been too sick to work, experts said.
“If you ever wanted a study in differential treatment, this is it,” said Ray Berry, chief executive officer of his own company, Health Business Solutions, in Cooper City, Fla., and a member of the North Broward Hospital board. “You can have people in beds right next to each other, and one can pay $3,000 and one can pay nothing. … The folks who do pay it are going to get sticker shock.”.....
meanwhile the care that they are getting is from sweatshop style management hours and staffing levels.....UnitedHealthGroup, UnitedHealthcare’s parent company, reported $15.4 billion in profits in 2020, up from $13.8 billion in 2019........
'We don't have enough nurses.' Health care staffing shortages continue across Michigan
"In the hospital setting, we need to look at more flexible schedules, the 12-hour shifts just are no longer working," she said.
In mid-September, Beaumont Hospitals had to shut down 180 beds while Henry Ford Health closed 120 beds.
Pablo Garcia, a former nurse, almost reached burnout level before he left for grad school.
"A lot of hospitals were not really managing the shortage of nurses too well. I worked in an ICU, where our nurse to patient ratios were 1 to 2 typically, and with COVID, since we had so much shortage, we had to go to 1 to 3, or we had to triple every nurse," he said.
Re: The Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
Back in 2013, I went in for surgery, and caught pneumonia in the hospital, and I was laid up at home for nearly three months. But I had great health insurance, and a liberal sick leave policy, so my hospital bills were paid, and I didn't miss a dime. So, all I had to worry about was healing. But it made me think, because back in the shop I wouldn't have 3 months of sick leave, so I'd have to go on short-term disability and get less than half my regular wage, so I'd be worried about paying the bills.
Luckily, back in the shop I had good health care, too, but about 10 years ago, they shoved some horrible insurance that doesn't pay hardly anything onto them. We had recommended strike, but it was a time where airplanes weren't selling much, and they could have saved money if they struck for two or three months.
I did think about how tough it is for people working for a living, and how they are one illness from bankruptcy.
Except they won't let you declare bankruptcy these days, only rich people can declare bankruptcy. So, you're stuck for the rest of your life with crushing debt.
And that's just where the bastards want you.

Why natural immunity against COVID-19 is not as good as vaccination, according to doctors
The U.S. has surpassed 46 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and natural immunity from a prior infection may not be enough to rely on when considering the ultimate aim of reducing hospitalization and death caused by transmission — especially when it comes to mitigating the threat to the most vulnerable among us.
"The problem with natural immunity is that A) it's not as good as vaccination and B) it does wane over time and people get re-infected if you don't follow that up with a vaccination," University of Virginia Assistant Professor of Medicine Dr. Taison Bell said on Yahoo Finance Live (video above).
