Nuclear war is and always been a concern since the development of nuclear weapons. Putin knows it would be the end of Russia and that's not something he'd be likely to do. As I've said, he's an ultra-nationalist. If he loses in Russia, he will punish those he believes responsible for the defeat (because it certainly wouldn't be his fault *eye roll*) but not so much as to destroy the nation.

Although, he is willing to risk the roof of the Kremlin in order to justify escalating attacks against Ukrainian civilians, not that that is necessary as he's doing it without any attempt at having a reason.

China is slowly lining up against them but I wouldn't expect any seismic shift. They need support for their continued harassment of Taiwan.

I have been to Key West. Pre-DeSantis, of course.

And you shouldn’t tell us how gay and trans people in Florida feel unless you’ve walked in their shoes.

And I’m sure you’d be telling Jews in Germany in the forties that they have nothing to worry about, either.

Yeah, I have of course been to all those places, and while they are LGBT friendly, the Pulse nightclub shooting also happened here in Orlando.

Anyway, Russia is now claiming that Ukraine tried to assassinate Putin with a toy drone with a fizzle cracker that couldn't even damage the flag flying on top of the Kremlin. Color me skeptical.

Meaning you don't give a shit for human rights of gays and trans people. Let's just remember that a GOP State Representative, Jeff Holcomb, was saying about that Muslim terrorists hate gays, but proudly said, and I quote, "Our terrorist enemies hate homosexuals more than we do."

Nice that he admits that the House Republicans hate gays. But then, that IS how they are voting.

Rep. Holcomb is in the Tampa/St. Pete area, so he many be YOUR State Rep, Joe. Wouldn't be surprised.

I only made it to the Panhandle of Florida. Know why it’s called the Pahandle? Because it’s so poor there people have to panhandle.

You mentioned a couple of places in Florida but that doesn’t take into account the rest of the state. The point of the article was that the areas most Germans would be visiting would be the tourist areas like Miami and Orlando and the German government was right for issuing the warning.

I agree with you that we have to be skeptical of Russian claims. I find it hard to believe Ukraine would attempt doing that because if they did it would only further rally the Russian people around Putin. Also consider, with so many young men fleeing Russian to avoid the draft you wouldn’t want to stop that exodus.

We also have bear in mind Ukraine might have done that and denied it as part of their propaganda campaign.

Lol yep. Anything the Kremlin claims is pretty much Bs. I saw the footage and it appears there are two men in white outfits climbing the dome at the time of impact. Putin also doesn’t stay or sleep in the dome.

But hey, that said I guess only Russia is allowed to attack other countries, wipe out people and infrastructure and attempt to assassinate their leaders.

Cons are trying to destroy us from different angles. Board cons included.

They support russia whether they like it or not because of who they vote for AND they are trying to destroy our economy, already on this board a con said it would be Joe's fault. Think about that for a minute.

Said con is an enemy of this country.
I sigh in your general direction.

Kremlin> i'm doubting it. Very much. Right now it's all about the spring offensive and the fog of war.

i'm so hoping Ukraine has something up their sleeve. Cuz if something doesn't happen soon it would lead me to believe Ukraine is hurting just as bad as Russia is.

If anything, Ukraine may have stopped Russia from moving further beyond Ukraine which, I have little doubt, was the plan that they began with. Russia will have to be dealt with, there will be no avoiding it.

If his brothers were alive, they would take him out back and slap him.

Dont know what happened to him, it is very sad. I used to listen to his wife on a podcast with Tig Notaro, as I am a big fan of hers, but I wont listen anymore because of her being married to him. You might know her from "Curb", she plays Larry's wife or ex now, Cheryl Hines.

Weird how this works, so if we want to avoid disaster we have to let putin have what he wants? What if he wants Switzerland next?
Putin wants war in Ukraine, by aligning with the war supplying it, funding it, actively participating in it, and making no efforts towards peace alternatives that is giving him what he wants. But not only that now its also you who want it too and people all over the world as well.

2. Threats of nuclear war are Russian talking points. Threatening nuclear war if the world doesn't do as Russia says is their standard MO as a terrorist nation. But yah, let's do as they say and let them totally annihilate Ukraine in the name of "peace." Totally ridiculous.

It’s up to Russia to make peace and leave.

No, giving him what he wants is handing it over. You spread RU propaganda.

Neville Chamberlain went with "peace alternatives" with Hitler and achieved "peace in our time". That worked so well, didn't it?

And I take it you don't like that the USA declared war when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, right?

Wagner Group threatens to pull out of Bakhmut on May 10th if Russian doesn't provide them with ammunition.
The owner of Russia’s Wagner military contractor threatened Friday to withdraw his troops next week from the protracted battle for the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, accusing Moscow’s military command of starving his forces of ammunition.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, a wealthy entrepreneur with longtime links to Russian President Vladimir Putin, claimed that Wagner fighters had planned to capture Bakhmut by May 9, Russia’s Victory Day holiday celebrating the defeat of Nazi Germany. But they were undersupplied and suffering heavy losses, he said, and would hand over operations to the regular army on May 10.

Prigozhin’s spokespeople also published a video of him Friday shouting, swearing and pointing at about 30 uniformed bodies lying on the ground. He says they are Wagner fighters who died on Thursday alone, and demands ammunition from Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov.
