2024 MLB Trade Deadline

Post by ap215 »

Lots of wheeling & dealing in the MLB World.

Most intriguing storylines as Trade Deadline final countdown begins

It’s the final countdown.

No, we’re not talking about the finale of a Europe concert, but rather the time ticking away toward today’s 6 p.m. ET Major League Baseball Trade Deadline.

Yeah there's been some trade wind in the last week. The Dodgers need pitching, but they traded for yet another injured fielder. Meanwhile former Dodgers who were traded away for various turkeys routinely clobber homers against them. Last night was business as usual, as a the Dodgers blew a 5 run lead, with the considerable help of ex-Dodgers on the other team.

The Padres needed pitchers like the Dodgers do and they got two pitchers who will definitely bolster their bullpen. This year, the Padres have traded something like 12 of their top 15 prospects from the farm system and they'll have to rebuild it next year.

I was watching the Dodger-Padre game last night and almost turned it off after the first inning when the Dodgers scored five runs. Something told me to keep watching and I was glad I did because the Padres trailed the Dodgers 5-3 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill (who could be rookie of the year) hit home runs to tie the game. They held the Dodgers scoreless in the 10th inning and with the bases loaded, Donovan Solano hit a single driving in the winning run.

It is obvious that the Padres are on a mission from God, and will totally destroy the pitcher-less Dodgers most of the time. The Dodgers have made a whole string of some of the worst acquisitions and trades in baseball history, stocking both leagues with great players who the Dodgers traded away. These all-stars now routinely beat the remaining Dodger teams of gimps, sore-arms, has-beens, and never-weres.

At some point maybe LA fans will demand better, but don't hold your breath. We can't even deal with homelessness, let alone crappy baseball.
