Warner Bros. Discovery Says It Matched NBA Rights Offer

Warner Bros. Discovery, hoping to make a last-minute basket, said it sent paperwork to the NBA it says matched one of the offers the league has accepted as part of its new television rights package.

Sources said WBD has chosen to match the offer Amazon has made to stream games on Prime Video, worth an average of $1.8 billion a year.

I hope this happens.

TNT does the best job packaging NBA basketball by far. Losing them would be bad for the NBA.

Now, I’m not arguing with you. I don’t have a dog in the hunt. Don’t watch the NBA.

Having said that - I’ve seen where new networks shake things up, find new ways or new personalities to cover the games. I remember when Fox started carrying the NFL.

I seem to remember that Amazon did some new things with their few NFL games this year. You can certainly get into a big rut after so many years, and I do think the NBA seems to be in a rut.

But again, I don’t really care. Just thought I’d bring that up.

Get ready for a huge court battle

NBA Rejects Warner Bros. Discovery’s Rights Proposal: “Did Not Match Terms” of Amazon Deal

The NBA has officially rejected Warner Bros. Discovery, with the league saying in a statement that it will not accept WBD’s offer to match the rights package that the league cut with Amazon.

“Warner Bros. Discovery’s most recent proposal did not match the terms of Amazon Prime Video’s offer and, therefore, we have entered into a long-term arrangement with Amazon,” the NBA said in a statement.
