of course he doesnt mean corp ripoffs or the rich paying even less in taxes...he means joe working people.
theyve got to support slash pay him or its not any fun for him.

will beeezos taxes go up or will it be your neighbor who has to cough up more to pay for the rich...
No. He means cut government spending. Raising your neighbor’s taxes wouldn’t put a dent in the debt

Just for clarification

Top 1% pay 46% of income taxes, top 10% pay 75% of income taxes. Bottom 50% pay 2.3%

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tax-irs-in ... and-least/

Historically tax revenues run 15%-17% of GDP. Even when we had 90% tax brackets.

In order to balance the budget we would need to generate tax revenues of 30% of GDP. Cripple the economy.

We don’t have a revue problem we have a spending problem.

In 2021 musk paid $11 billion in federal income taxes at 41%. He due to start exercising stock options in a few years. At the current rate he’ll pay even more.

That would be a massive change from some recent years. An investigation by ProPublica found that Musk, and fellow billionaires such as Jeff Bezos and Michael Bloomberg,(link) legally paid zero in income taxes in 2018.

Musk, the world’s richest person, doesn’t earn a cash salary or bonus. He’s instead been paid through stock options, giving him the right to buy shares of Tesla (TSLA) at a price equal to the market price at the time the options are issued, but likely well below their value at the time they are exercised.

this kind of cognitive dissonance hurts the entire country.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/20/investin ... index.html
“I will never do anything that will jeopardize or hurt Social Security or Medicare,” Trump insisted in an interview with right-wing news site Breitbart in March. “We’ll have to do it elsewhere. But we’re not going to do anything to hurt them.”

(Trump repeatedly proposed cuts to Social Security’s disability insurance programs when he was in office.)

How the richest people on Earth avoid paying taxes ---
2021

CNN —
Here’s a good one. Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, Warren Buffett and Elon Musk all walk into the IRS. But none of them, in various years, seem to have paid federal income taxes.

Or how about this one: The rich get richer … because they don’t always pay their fair share into the community chest.

This is US tax law. And now we have a map of how the wealthiest people exploit it thanks to a bombshell report from ProPublica, the investigative journalism nonprofit, which claims to have obtained years of tax returns for the wealthiest people in the country from an anonymous source. Read it here.

Its first report (it promises more to come) is on the richest of the rich, who in certain years claim losses that can wipe out their income tax bills. This should sound familiar; former President Donald Trump did the same thing.

But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be a scandal that Bezos, the richest person on Earth – who has used his vast wealth to start a spaceship company that will take him into space, where he will also be the richest person – has in multiple recent years told the federal government he owed no income taxes, according to ProPublica.

ProPublica also reports that Musk, the second wealthiest human on Earth, whose wealth has grown many billions in recent years and who also has a passion project space company, told the government he owed no income tax in 2018.

The scandal is that these actions are perfectly legal. Bloomberg and Buffett, who have both supported raising tax rates for the wealthy, have both had $0 income tax bills. (Buffett, at least, has long acknowledged this, infamously saying he paid a lower tax rate than his secretary.)

And when exercises the options he pays taxes. In 2021 he exercised options and paid a 41% rate $11 billion. At the time he exercised the options he was required to pay the withholding taxes.

The stock he sold had already been taxed. These are general numbers. In 2021 he exercised $26 billion in options. Paid $11+ billion in federal and state income taxes. The remand $15 billion in stock are now tax free. It has been taxed.

Yeah on the stock options the IRS takes the Withholding immediately. You can bank on the $11 billion tax bill.

And they do spend money.

3/4 of the Republican Party isnt facist.

We have gotten to the point where half of the country views the other half as some kind of threat. There’s a few folks in the middle shaking our heads and wondering how this country survives. To be honest, there are nut jobs on both sides and they are controlling the narrative.

Elon Musk seeks to move $1 million voter lottery lawsuit to federal court

Elon Musk and his political action committee are seeking to move the Philadelphia District Attorney’s lawsuit targeting their $1 million swing state voter daily lottery to federal court from a state-level court.

Lawyers for Musk and his America PAC late Wednesday filed a notice of removal in Pennsylvania federal court for DA Larry Krasner’s suit, hours after a Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas judge ordered the Tesla
CEO to personally appear for an emergency hearing in the case to determine whether the lottery should be halted.

Wasn’t my point. If the goal is to “unite” the parties and to work together effectively and efficiently as a people and as a government, you aren’t going to get there questioning the loyalty or leveling petty insults at the people you hope to work with. I would have thought that we would have learned that after Trump. That’s my biggest complaint about the way he manages. He has lowered the level of discourse between the parties to the lowest level I’ve seen in my lifetime. Democrats have eagerly followed him into the sewer.

So Democrats aren’t communists and Republicans aren’t facists or Nazis. We all are loyal Americans with different points of view. We are all in the same boat. I don’t see how anyone will unite a country where one half of the country openly hates and distrusts shows such open hostility and contempt for the other half. And vice versa.

We have become the Sunnis and the Shias, the Catholics and the Protestants in Ireland. I used to wonder how people got to that point. Now I know. We are our own worst enemy. All one of our foreign adversaries has to do is raise the issue and we eagerly go to war with ourselves and they just sit back and laugh their asses off at how easily we allow ourselves to be manipulated. Russiagate is a prime example.

We can thank the internet. Prior to the internet people like Dennis Kucinich weren't even given a committee chairmanship. Today he would be a party leader.

Without the internet Trump never runs for office. If he did he would do no better than that Ross Perot. In today's world Perot probably becomes president.

People and movements which would have been considered fringe then now have power.

Prior to the internet we had CNN which had a slight bias at worse.
Today's Fox all democrats are evil News and MSNBC all Republicans are evil have replaced boring CNN and Larry King live.

I don't know where if or how it all ends.

Except the devotees of Fox and MSNBC believe every word said on those networks. Then go online finding and converting other devotees.

One of my grandparents believed every word in the Bible was hand written by God. We both know people like that except politics and places like Fox and MSNBC are their Bible.
