SCAR has had an unbelievable 3 year run. I wish coach Staley would get a chance to coach men's basketball at a legitimate school. Not at a school where they are just trying to make a political statement. AKA the female division 1 kicker.

She is undoubtedly the best coach in CBB today. Scuttlebutt around the state is she will continue to coach until the AD jib comes open. Then make history by moving into that position. Which I also hope she does. As I believe she is thr dynamic type of person who will succeed no matter what.

A few things. Of course, Dawn Staley, no matter how good, will NEVER be given a chance to coach men’s college basketball. I think it’s a shame that men, that can’t get a job coaching men’s basketball, can coach women’s basketball. Until women are coaching men’s basketball, men should shouldn’t be allowed to coach women’s basketball, so that women can find post-playing careers. It’s obvious that the women are superior to men in coaching women’s basketball.

I have all the respect in the world for Coach Staley. Also, the SC women’s team - they are awesome. Caitlin Clark is the best player - but South Carolina has the stronger team. And it showed.

The biggest news here is that the women’s final drew MORE eyes than the men’s final, for the first time in history. Glenn has always talked down ALL women’s sports forever, as inferior to men’s sports. I disagree. I think women’s college basketball is superior to men’s basketball for several reasons - they play TEAM basketball. They pas the ball. The shoot the ball. They play defense - hell, the defense that LSU played on Clark was unreal, and really threw her off her game.

Men’s basketball is all about the most spectacular dunks. College less so, the NBA, to me, is unwatchable.

And the ratings continue to grow for the women’s game. We talked on this board after the stuff came out about the second-class citizenship the women’s tournament a few years ago during COVID. They refused to let the women’s game use “March Madness”, the players were all quarantined because of COVID, the men got fancy buffet meals and lavish weight rooms, the women got box lunches and their exercise equipment consisted of a few women’s dumbbells and a yoga mat.

Subsequent reports the NCAA commissioned showed that the NCAA was short-changing them, and also leaving money on the table, because women’s sports is getting more popular year after year. Watching the women thru out the year, lots of women’s products were featured during the games, things you wouldn’t see in men’s games. I loved the commercials Caitlin Clark was doing - the “other Caitlin Clark” a financial analyst or something, was shown trying to do what the BBall Caitlin does - and was shown at the logo, going “she shoots from HERE???!!!? And Caitlin says, “It’s kinda my thing”.

But it seems from the right, the ONLY think they care about is keeping transgender people out. It’s the ONLY time they give a shit about women’s sports. But here’s a piece about Dawn Staley, in a press conference before the game, where a right-wing media person, instead of talking about the upcoming game, demands to know Staley’s position on transgenders in the game. Because that’s all they care about. They really don’t give a shit about the women’s game at all

Staley points out the discrimination women face ever day. She ACCEPTS transgender people into the game. Maybe Glenn should listen to people like Staley and quit accepting the bullshit talking points from the right.

This year it seemed to me that the women hoopsters were more popular than the men. We watched the last 15 minutes or so in a nice Irish pub on the way back to LA, though since they had a live band in the next room over the sound was inaudible. Lots of confetti. Then the TV went right into Newt Gingrich doing informercials for title insurance or something similar. Really.

It drew more this season because people wanted to watch Clark.
Staley isn't getting a job because they must believe that male athletes coming out of high school won't play for a female coach.
I would still like her to get a chance at a legitimate school.
As for transgender she is giving the PC answer. She knows there is no reason to get involved into that controversy. Any person who thinks that transgender don't have an advantage just look at Clark.

Perhaps the best player in women's history. She would not be a starter on an average men's high school team.
