Kansas Legislator Arrested Twice in One Month

Post by Number6 »

Aaron Coleman, a 21-year old Democratic Kansas House of Representative, was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving. Earlier in the year, the legislative committee reprimanded him for alleged past abuses against girls and young women.
Aaron Coleman, 21, was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of drunken driving, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Coleman was already out on bond from him being detained over suspicions of domestic battery. The arrest has inspired several Kansas politicians to call for his resignation.

"Mr. Coleman's most recent arrest is further evidence that he is not fit to serve in the Kansas House of Representatives and that his continued presence in the Legislature is a disservice to his constituents," said Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly in a statement.

Coleman has been a regular source of controversy in Kansas since he was elected in 2020. A legislative committee reprimanded the 21-year-old Democrat in February due to alleged past abuses against girls and young women.

Coleman claimed during his 2020 campaign that passing "Medicaid for all" could have stopped him from abusing his ex-girlfriend. The Kansas Democratic Party withdrew its support of Coleman in 2020 after he admitted to posting revenge pornography.
