I’d love to see some investigations into those who want to cut Ukraine funding and what ties they may have to Putin.Drak wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:11 pm I know that Joe stated he can see the point of those who don't want to provide aid to Ukraine. But it'll be interesting to see if he provides you with an answer. Glenn is already buying into the GOP BS about money.
Both of these guys threw a huge fit when the US pulled out of Afghanistan. They both claimed America was abandoning it's allies, especially Joe, who also called for investigations. Neither had a problem with the decades and trillions of dollars placed there.

I am supportive of funding for the Ukraine. I have always been supportive of funding for Ukraine. Said as much on this board.gounion wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 4:09 pm We’re all lucky Biden is President. We’re lucky that Trump and all the Putin lovers aren’t in charge of our foreign policy. And let’s remember that the people YOU voted for want to cut off funding for Ukraine.
Do you support cutting all funding for Ukraine?
Oh, once again another question you’ll run away from

I mean, these guys are against every damned thing that you say you support. Why do you want them in charge?

GoU. I am a moderate conservative. I am not a liberal progressive. I’m not a single issue voter. Not every conservative agrees on every issue. It may be that way in the Democrat Party. You may all drink the koolaide. You may all be members of the borg. I suspect that most Democrats are not single issue voters like you. They are capable of thinking for themselves and making decisions for themselves.
You claim to know or profess to know how everyone in the Republican Party believes. I highly doubt that. Further you lie and misrepresent my beliefs and my positions all the time. Why would I accept your pronouncements about the beliefs of other conservatives. When you start posting truthfully and honestly, I might take you claims seriously. I haven’t seen that in you in all the years I have known you. You lied from day one and continue to lie today.

You say you're for certain issues (most of the time you won't take any stance), but every issue you say you're for, the people you vote for are against.
And everyone here has your number. We know you're a liar. You've admitted to lying on this board.

You profess to be an adult and yet you don’t understand that not everyone agrees on everything. That’s the thinking of a child. It pisses you off when people don’t agree with you. Like Trump you can’t accept that simple truth and you attack those who have a different opinion. You are no more an adult than the former President. I can’t tell which of you is the bigger baby.
I’m happy to defend or discuss positions I have taken on this board. I have no obligation to defend positions you have invented for me or for others. You spend little time explaining or defending your position on anything. You probably don’t understand the “why”, you just follow the talking points. You should devote more time explaining why you believe as you do and less time telling other people what they think. You aren’t nearly that smart or insightful.
Re: House to vote to abolish IRS and institute Fair Tax
The GOP isn't a moderate party. It's the most extreme party in United States History. The moderates no longer support this party. They have all left.JoeMemphis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 5:53 pm I consider myself a moderate. What you think is irrelevant. You are wrong more often than you are right.
And they don't support these nutjobs that run the GOP House.
If you WERE a moderate, you would be standing AGAINST what they are doing. A moderate would support the President in many of his actions, such as his support on the international stage of the Ukrainian people, his deft handling in bringing NATO together against Putin. You would support the CHIPS Act, which protects our industry and our national security. 187 Republicans in Congress voted AGAINST the act.
A moderate wouldn't pretend that Joe Biden hasn't done a lot of important things for our nation, being fought by the right at all times.

There isn't ANY simple truth about what the crazy people in the House are doing, but you defend them all the way. That shows you aren't a moderate. A moderate would be shocked and ashamed at what they are doing.
No, you aren't. And I defend my positions all the time. I have stated, for instance, that I have a bright line that I will never cross in voting. You SAY you join me in support women's right to choose, and you SAY you support LGBTQ+ rights. This shows me you're not concerned about issues at all, just about red vs blue and nothing else. I've shown that it doesn't matter WHAT stands you take, you support the right, no matter what it does.
And you vote for them all the time. They have your full support, no matter WHAT they do.
Re: House to vote to abolish IRS and institute Fair Tax
I support candidates that lean towards the conservative. I never said any differently. That doesn’t mean I agree with every policy position. I certainly don’t agree with many of the policy positions of liberal progressives. I tend to find middle ground with other moderates. You don’t fit that definition.gounion wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 6:12 pm The GOP isn't a moderate party. It's the most extreme party in United States History. How and why people vote as they do is beyond your ability to understand. Attempting to explain it to you is like teaching calculus to an ass.

Over here we are permitted to disagree with Republicans and with conservatives.
While over there it seems you folks have a need to march lock step never disagreeing with the party or another liberal.
The proof of that statement is in the fact that you believe any criticism of President Biden is an endorsement of Trump. Any criticism of a liberal or liberal position is an endorsement of a far right wing representative or position.
You in particular and liberals in general have no objectivity on any issue or any candidate. According to you every democrat who has ran for any office no matter how big or how small the office, has been a better choice since 1932.
I am sure if you lived in Chicago you would vote for Mayor Lightfoot if she were the democratic party nominee. Just as you voted against the Maryland governor who had a 65pct approval rate in a state that is 65pct democratic.

You think that liberals will destroy this nation if given power. That's just crazy fucking talk, especially since we've HAD the Presidency, House and Senate, most recently with Obama. We FIXED your side's fuckups, instead of destroying anything.Glennfs wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 11:34 pm Over here we are permitted to disagree with Republicans and with conservatives.

Re: House to vote to abolish IRS and institute Fair Tax
So would you guys on the right support a politician who has voiced support for the “Fair Tax”?
Re: House to vote to abolish IRS and institute Fair Tax
So I did the math and a family of 4 making $75,000 a year would likely take a hit. And that would likely apply up into the low $100k. The problem is the sales tax doesn’t have the child tax credit. Make the child tax credit part of the prebate and the issue goes away. With the child tax credit the prebate would cover 23% of $75,000.ProfX wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 2:05 pm The Trouble with the FairTax

FairTax advocates counter that their proposal would also replace regressive payroll and excise taxes (as well as highly progressive estate taxes), but the bottom line is that tax burdens on middle-income households would surely rise while high-income families would get a big tax cut.
Some people might call that an UnfairTax.
[snip][end]
Not sure a sales tax would really be a simpler approach. What with prebates, requiring states to collect the taxes. Could be a bit more complicated.
Bigger issue is would a sales tax yield a greater return or a lesser return. And I haven’t seen anything on that.
Re: House to vote to abolish IRS and institute Fair Tax
Actually they have and it would have to be close to 70% for it to be neutral.Bludogdem wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 10:42 am So I did the math and a family of 4 making $75,000 a year would likely take a hit.
