Judge locks up 'Three Percenter' militia members in Jan. 6 obstruction case

WASHINGTON — Three California men who were associated with the "Three Percenter" militia group and convicted in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol attack were taken into custody Friday after a judge ordered them to serve sentences ranging from 21 to 33 months in federal prison, far below what the government had requested.

Erik Scott Warner, Felipe Antonio Martinez, Derek Kinnison and Ronald Mele were all found guilty of felony obstruction of an official proceeding and other charges after a trial last year. One of their co-defendants, former California police chief Alan Hostetter, was sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison in December. The trials featured testimony from co-defendant Russell Taylor, who pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal with the government.

WASHINGTON — A Jan. 6 defendant who took a Confederate flag to the Capitol and wore an "I TRUMP" beanie as he assaulted police officers with chemical spray, partially blinding two of them for hours, was sentenced to 30 months in prison Monday.

Isreal Easterday, 23, was arrested in Florida in December 2022 and found guilty in October on several counts, including felony charges of civil disorder and assaulting officers.

Former Navy interpreter sentenced to 28 months in prison for assaulting police on Jan. 6

WASHINGTON — A federal judge sentenced a former U.S. Navy interpreter to more than two years in prison Tuesday for assaulting police during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Matthew DaSilva, 51, of Collin County, Texas, was sentenced to 28 months in prison on two felony counts of civil disorder and assaulting, resisting or impeding police. He will receive credit for nine months already spent in jail since his conviction in July.

Utah’s John Sullivan sentenced to six years in prison for his role in Jan. 6 insurrection

A federal judge Friday sentenced Utah activist John Earle Sullivan to six years in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection.

Judge Royce C. Lamberth also sentenced Sullivan to 36 months supervised release about $2,500 in fees and restitution.

Leo Brent Bozell IV of Pennsylvania, son of Brent Bozell, the conservative founder of the Media Research Center, CNSNews, and the Parents Television Counsel, was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison Friday for his raucous role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, amid throngs of Donald Trump supporters.

NBC News reported from the courthouse in Washington, D.C., that the defendant’s father was also in attendance Friday.

WASHINGTON — A federal judge sentenced a former New Jersey electrician to 12 years in prison Friday for assaulting at least a half dozen officers during the Capitol riot.

Christopher Joseph Quaglin, 38, of North Brunswick, was convicted last July of 14 counts, including 12 felonies, in a stipulated bench trial. The charges include six counts of assaulting police, two counts of robbery and one count of obstructing an official proceeding.

WASHINGTON — A former Boston police K-9 officer who helped in the response to the Boston Marathon bombing was sentenced Friday to 20 months in prison for attacking a Capitol Police officer with a chair during the Jan. 6 riot.

Joseph Fisher of Plymouth, Massachusetts, was sentenced after a court hearing in which he called his actions that day "an abomination."

Jan. 6 rioter caught in a woman’s Bumble dating app sting sentenced to prison

WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter who assaulted law enforcement officers with bear spray and a metal whip — and who was arrested thanks to a woman’s sting operation on the dating app Bumble — was sentenced to just over six years in prison on Wednesday.

Andrew Taake was arrested in 2021 and pleaded guilty in December to assaulting officers using a deadly or dangerous weapon. Having previously been convicted of a felony — and having been out on bond on a charge of soliciting a minor at the time of the Capitol attack — Taake was one of a small number of Jan. 6 defendants who were held in pretrial detention.

WASHINGTON (WGHP) — A former NASCAR Winston Cup driver and his son have been arrested for their alleged conduct during the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Tighe Scott, 75, of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, and his son, Jarrett Scott, 48, are among a group of four people who are being charged in a criminal complaint filed in the District of Columbia.

A man from Maine who breached the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 with a hockey stick and a bullhorn was arrested this week after a quick-thinking police officer ran his license plate and noticed he had a warrant for his arrest, federal authorities said.

Christopher Belliveau, 38, faces charges of civil disorder, assaulting officers using a dangerous weapon, trespassing, disorderly conduct, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building and parading in the Capitol buildings, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Isaac Yoder, a man who wore colonial garb, wielded a metal sword and a nearly 6-foot long flagpole as he stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has resoundingly failed to convince a federal judge in Washington, D.C., that his sentence of one year imprisonment should be reduced because, as Yoder has insisted, the sword wasn’t a “dangerous weapon” but merely a prop for his colonial costume.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, an appointee of former President Ronald Reagan, denied the request in a cutting 12-page order issued July 5, telling Yoder that when it comes to the weapons he and other rioters carried at the Capitol, district courts have repeatedly found that any object with less obvious propensity for harm than even a metal sword like his, qualifies as dangerous weapon.

A Nevada man awaiting trial for charges stemming from his alleged participation in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was taken into custody this week for a series of threatening statements prosecutors say he made targeting public officials, including Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

According to court records obtained by ABC News, prosecutors moved to revoke Bradley Nelson's bail following a series of statements and social media posts as recent as last month -- that included an image posted Garland with crosshairs drawn on his head. Prosecutors moved to revoke his bail two days after his post about Garland.

Former Oath Keepers lawyer pleads guilty to obstruction related to US Capitol riot

(CNN) — An attorney for the far-right Oath Keepers pleaded guilty Wednesday to instructing members of the far-right group to delete their text messages after the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riot on behalf of its leader Stewart Rhodes.


Kellye SoRelle, an attorney who volunteered for Lawyers for Trump during efforts to challenge the 2020 election results, was first charged in 2022. The judge overseeing her case, however, temporarily ruled that she was incompetent to stand trial and sent SoRelle to a federal custody for mental health treatment.

DOJ charges two brothers in Jan. 6 assault on a New York Times photographer

WASHINGTON — Two brothers from Pennsylvania and New Jersey who allegedly assaulted a New York Times photographer and stole her camera after they stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, were arrested by the FBI on Thursday.

Philip Walker, a 52-year-old from Upper Chichester, Pennsylvania, and David Walker, a 49-year-old from Delran, New Jersey, face charges of forcibly taking an item from a person and assault with the intent to commit another felony, as well as other standard Jan. 6 misdemeanors for entering the Capitol. Philip Walker faces a separate charge of willfully and maliciously destroying personal property, for allegedly discarding the camera in a body of water.
