Hotels should have adjustable beds

Post by gounion »

So, my wife and I drove up to Green Bay to watch the Packers win over the Patriots in overtime. Woo hoo! There's NOTHING like football in Green Bay.

Back in 2017, I bought an adjustable bed - you know, the kind where the head and foot of the bed will rise up by remote control. These beds are very easy to get addicted to.

Years ago, all hotel beds sucked. Even good hotels used cheap mattresses. But in the late 90's and early 2000's, hotels started a mattress war - where every chain except the cheapest put good mattresses in their hotels. I don't enjoy staying in hotels now because of it.

We're so glad to be back to our adjustable bed tonight.

This article from 2021 says that a third of consumers are interested in an adjustable bed. Certainly the old you are, the more it would appeal to you.

I'm betting the hotel chain that has them first will see their occupancy jump dramatically.

I think you got spoiled by having an adjustable bed just like I've been spoiled by my new power leather recliner with heat and massage. I've been to Las Vegas three times this year (same hotel/casino) and I didn't have a problem with their beds or mattresses. I don't own an adjustable bed but in the future I'll probably get one. As for one-third of consumers interested in an adjustable be, that's a good marketing number but I don't think that would be enough for hotels to convert their beds to adjustable bed. Two-thirds of consumers appear satisfied so I don't think there's enough of a demand for adjustable beds in hotels to justify the investment.

You are correct, I'm spoiled. I highly recommend the adjustable bed.

But I think anyone that tries one of those beds WILL be hooked!

The same article says they accounted for 29% of sales in 2021. That's pretty amazing.

I think it will start happening in the next few years.

What brand do you have? The bed?
I sigh in your general direction.

I got my first one at Costco. Good price. But now we have Temper-Pedic. They are top notch.

I have a Tempur Pedic bed and it makes getting a good night's sleep somewhere else almost impossible. We almost never use the adjustable bed functions, but I'm surprised that the massage feature hasn't been worn out

Best investment ever.

If the house ever catches fire the bed goes out first then the kids/pets/etc.

I don’t use the massage functions, my wife does.

What’s funny is when I’m getting ready for bed, reading/posting/watching TV, I use the adjustable function, but flatten the bed to sleep, but my wife cranks the bed up to sleep.

Do you smile a satisfying smile as the bed slowly returns to the flat position?

I do.
