Yup. Supply and demand. It increased the supply, so dropped prices. The Russians and Saudis wanted to restrict the supply to drive up the prices and give Trump an opening.
Do you support foreign countries interfering in our elections?

Do you have any evidence to support that. The amount of fuel release is a tiny fraction of what we consume on a regular basis. That was widely reported at the time.

If so, why do you vote Republican? Because they openly manipulate our elections.
Really? Last time I checked the Obama/Biden administration launched an investigation into their opponent in a Presidential election based on a bogus dossier. Sounds like using government institutions for political gain. Using government institutions as political weapons. Why do YOU vote for such things.

Let’s remember that the Russians hacked the Clinton campaign and all the emails were released to the public, hurting Clinton. The Iranians hacked Trump’s campaign and not one email has been released to the public.
Tell me, Joe, if you were President, and foreign enemies were going to manipulate the price of gas to interfere in an election, would you do anything?

Changing the subject. Deflecting.
Nobody should use government institutions as a political weapon. Not republicans. Not democrats. No excuses. It’s election interference. The Obama/Biden administration did it to Trump. It’s that simple.
You don’t have to like or agree with Trump. You can hate him. But using the institutions of government to undermine him was election interference and an abuse of power. Defend it all you want. Deflect all you want. But that is every bit as bad as anything the Russians were trying to do. Sadly, that’s what our politics has become. And it’s shameful.

No, they didn't do anything to Trump. I realize you love him and defend the indefensible with him. They didn't do anything wrong.
And you're fine with anything Trump has done, including colluding with the Russians. It's funny I remember when conservatives were anti-communist and anti-dictator. Now you're fine with it, as long as it's for Dear Leader.

It’s all on the record. Testimony under oath. You can deny it all you want. You are the one defending the indefensible. Using government institutions as a political weapon is never okay. There are no excuses. Not for republicans. Not for democrats. You can try and split hairs pretending otherwise.

They did nothing illegal, nor was it wrong.
Donald Trump colluded with the Russians in the election. Even Mueller said so.
But keep defending Dear Leader and not admitting to ANYTHING he did wrong.

I was supposed to attend a conference at the Coronado in late April 2020, I was going to give you a yell and meet up for lunch or something again. It was cancelled like a week before.
Supposed to be a really nice hotel.
I've been in parts of the hotel but not in any of the rooms. IIRC, they have a couple of elevators that were among the first Otis elevators installed about a 100 years ago.
I'm not impressed by most hotels and to be honest, I have no desire to stay in the Hotel del Coronado. It's not that I'm opposed to luxury hotels but I'm basically a person who just wants a nice room with a bath.
While deployed to Croatia in 1995, my medical unit were put up in a motel outside Zagreb, the capital, and then it was decided by higher ups that for security purposes we needed to move into the city. Have of our unit was in the Esplanade Hotel and I was in the Sheraton Hotel for three months. Both were 5-stars hotels but their rooms were smaller than most hotel rooms I've stayed in in Las Vegas.

Most hotels like the Coronado, the normal rooms are... fine. Nothing spectacular. Suites are another story. The amenities is where the difference is.
I've seen lot of suites, that's what happens when you're a lifetime top tier member at hotel chains - you're always upgraded. Always loved the in-room jacuzzis! For nearly two decades, I spent around 300 nights a year in hotels.

According to USAFacts, the release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve resulted in a lowering of gas prices 13 to 31 cents per gallon.
Efforts by the Biden administration to release crude oil into international supply chains have helped mitigate the rise in gas prices this year.
Between late March when President Biden ordered the release of SPR oil, to late July when the Treasury analysis was published, gas prices across the US rose approximately 68 cents.
According to an analysis from the Department of the Treasury from July, the release of oil from the SPR helped lower the price of gasoline in the US by an estimated range of 13 to 31 cents per gallon. This report covers the period from March to July of 2022.[2] This means that, without the release of crude oil from the SPR, gasoline prices could be anywhere between 13 to 31 cents higher per gallon.
Crude oil prices are just one factor influencing the price of gasoline. While the release from the SPR primarily affects the price of crude oil, other factors such as taxes, marketing, transportation, and more also contribute to the price of a gallon of gas. Crude oil historically accounts for 40% to 70% of the cost of gasoline. https://usafacts.org/articles/did-relea ... as-prices/

While in Zagreb, my commander and I were in the Sheraton and I meet him in his room a couple of times. He had a suite and it was nice but for me it would have been too much

So, yeah, it did lower the price of gasoline.
It doesn't matter the oil reserves are not there for political purposes.

What political purpose did it serve? Did you even read the link I provided because if you did you'd realize the period was from November 2021 to July 2022. By November, when the mid-term elections were held, the American public had forgotten about it and were getting back to their normal lives after the COVID pandemic was ending.
US filings for jobless applications see the biggest decline in three months
The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits last week came back down to more recent ranges after a big jump the week before due to hurricanes in the Southeast.
The Labor Department reported Thursday that applications for jobless claims fell by by 19,000 to 241,000 for the week of Oct. 12. That’s well below the 262,000 analysts were expecting.
Dow closes at another record high as chip stocks, retail data support
Oct 17 (Reuters) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced on Thursday to its fourth record close in the last five sessions, as stronger-than-expected monthly retail sales indicated a robust U.S. consumer and TSMC's upbeat forecast buoyed chipmakers' stocks.
The other main Wall Street benchmarks were largely unchanged, as the S&P 500 dipped to a fractional loss and the Nasdaq Composite eked out a tiny win.
Those of us who have essentially given up on ever getting a straight story from mass media have to laugh at what's on our business "news" channels. They run the averages and the ticker underneath and often it's more informative than whatever the talking heads are babbling about.
CNBC can be a real yuk, especially when they do it live from some executive retreat at some heavily guarded hotel. There's also our friend and benefactor Rupert's channel, and another mom and pop thing with visibly inferior equipment out of New York that I forgot the name of. They all babble on (Babylon?) about the same stuff. It's like BSing about sports in a bar. Last week it was all about how maybe the AI boom was over, this week it's about how AI is saving humanity and you'd better sell the house and sink it all in NVIDIA prontito.
Who can take any of it seriously? All I know is that I wanted to take several grand out of the bank and sink it in GE when it was at $16 a share. Everyone told me not to be stupid. What's GE now? It went to at least ten times that, probably more, but since it has recently split into two companies it's hard to get an accurate quote. In retrospect, I should have been stupid, but talk is cheap. Yak yak yak. Who cares?
