Belsito is first Democrat to take 4th Essex since 1858

Jamie Belsito has won the 4th Essex District seat, the first Democrat to do so in 163 years, according to initial results from town clerks in the district.

The Democrat took on Republican Robert Snow of Rowley to see who would win the Statehouse seat vacated by Brad Hill. He stepped down earlier this year to become a commissioner with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

I guess it's technically a 2022 election, but anyway Dr. Oz is running.

TV's Dr. Oz enters Pennsylvania's crucial Senate race on the GOP side
https://www.npr.org/2021/11/30/10601850 ... e-gop-side

Dr. Mehmet Oz, a celebrity heart surgeon who has also promoted questionable health advice to national television audiences, has entered the closely watched Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race.

Oz, a longtime resident of New Jersey, is running as a Republican in a bid to represent the Keystone State. The open contest will likely play a large role in which party controls the Senate in the next political term.

[snip]

Oz has promoted hydroxychloroquine as a COVID treatment. The Food and Drug Administration has cautioned against the personal use of the drug for COVID.

Oz has previously been criticized for other health recommendations, and has testified at a Senate hearing on deceptive advertising for diet supplements.

[snip][end]

Have never liked this guy. Long history of offering questionable medical advice, uses his TV show as a platform to push snake oil, and that was before COVID-19. What a shock, he's running as GOP.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker Won't Seek Reelection.

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/12/0 ... ion-523597.

BOSTON — Republican Gov. Charlie Baker won’t seek reelection next year, he announced Wednesday, in a move that surprised some in the state’s political class and will ripple down the 2022 ballot in Massachusetts.

And, in perhaps an even more shocking move, Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito won't run for governor in his place.

"After several months of discussion with our families, we have decided not to seek reelection in 2022," Baker and Polito said in a statement sent to friends and colleagues ". This was an extremely difficult decision for us. We love the work, and we especially respect and admire the people of this wonderful Commonwealth. Serving as Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts has been the most challenging and fulfilling jobs we’ve ever had. We will forever be grateful to the people of this state for giving us this great honor."

One of the most popular governors in the country, Baker was the GOP’s best hope of holding onto the governor’s office in a solidly blue state.
Love of Country is not Blind Patriotism. It is not devotion to one person or one party. It is knowing fighting for your country is single most important thing you can do. Do not accept the notion violence is the answer.

Judge orders contested ballots opened; two Dems win town board seats

POUGHKEEPSIE – A battle over absentee ballots for the Stanford Town Board races has concluded after a court challenge, with Democrats winning two seats. Dutchess County GOP Elections Commissioner Erik Haight accused his Democrat counterpart, Hannah Black, of criminal behavior over contested ballots last week.

He accused Black of not opening five contested ballots, submitted by Republican voters, challenged by the Democrats, and said her actions warranted felony charges and he planned to ask the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office to pursue his claim.

Democrat wins tiebreaker for final seat on Bentleyville council

Washington County’s elections office held the casting of lots Tuesday afternoon, which decided one municipal council race that had been tied.

Democrat Stanley A. Glowaski won the tiebreaker to secure the final seat on Bentleyville Borough Council, defeating Republican Jason A. Cole. Glowaski and Cole were tied with 257 votes for the council seat in the Nov. 2 election and had to draw numbered balls at the elections office Tuesday to determine the winner.

Democrats win turnout war in Jacksonville City Council Special Election

More than one in eight registered Duval County voters cast a ballot in the Jacksonville City Council At Large Group 3 race.

And until 30 minutes before polls closed, Democrats had a turnout advantage through Early Voting and Election Day. Then they lost it momentarily, only to regain it.

Albuquerque city council runoff election results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Voters in two Albuquerque districts have chosen their next city councilors. One of the races in Tuesday’s runoff election was for the District 7 seat being vacated by Councilor Diane Gibson, covering parts of the heights and uptown. That’s where Democrat Tammy Fiebelkorn was victorious over Republican challenger Lori Robertson, with 62% of the vote.

“Reducing violence in our district and really coming up with some innovative ways to provide services for people experiencing homelessness. We have so many people in our district unsheltered and we really need to do something to help them,” Fiebelkorn said.

Remember in 2018 when he thought the GOP won The House (some extreme right wing radio show must have misreported) and he came in here gloating like a 6 year old and when he was called out for his behavior he got angry and started in with the left wing name calling, like a 5 year old? I used to have that in my sig years ago. It’s just a childish game to him.

Are you going to sit there and pretend that the democratic party didn't take it on the chin in the recent elections.

Even in the presidential against the worst president in at least the last 150 years they have the house by what 6 seats and are tied in the Senate.
Voters across the country are not buying what the liberal Democrats are selling. You folks act like you have a mandate which is being denied by house and Senate rules. When in fact your party is holding on to power by a string.

More votes across the nation than the GOP in House, Senate and Presidential elections.

Maybe it's the GOP that isn't selling that well...

Glenn bitched about preferring a Bipartisan 01-06 Committee and here we see him complaining playing games. His hypocrisy is unbelievable.

All the Q-Publicans have done is play political games. Lower Unemployment Numbers. Gas Prices going down. Supply problems being fixed. And still they play fucking games.

Good Job

The fact is many here are caught up in politics they h6very little if anything else going on in their lives. Not unlike people who are into gaming or fantasy sports.

So naturally you would consider a person with many varied experiences and interests to not be taking politics seriously enough.
