Ohio officers won’t be charged in shooting of Jayland Walker

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio grand jury declined to indict eight police officers who fired 94 shots in the death last year of Jayland Walker, a 25-year-old Black man who fired at least one round at officers during a car and foot chase, the state's attorney general announced Monday.

Walker was shot 46 times in a hail of gunfire that lasted just under seven seconds after he jumped out of his still-moving car and ran from police, said Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.

Not from domestic terrorists.

You show your hatred and your bias with this post - since you say January 6th was simply a riot gone bad. No domestic terrorist there! Guess it's the skin color difference.

And I googled news for "Is Akron Ohio on lockdown today" and there were zero current links.

Tyre Nichols’ family sues Memphis police over beating, death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The family of Tyre Nichols, who died after a brutal beating by five Memphis police officers, sued the officers and the city of Memphis on Wednesday, blaming them for his death and accusing officials of allowing a special unit’s aggressive tactics to go unchecked despite warning signs.

The federal suit filed by lawyers for Nichols’ mother, RowVaughn Wells, seeks a jury trial and financial damages.

Sure, i will. Some involved in the BLM demonstration that burned down the 3rd precinct police station here in Mn. were domestic terrorists. Here's one of them......

A rightwing extremist boasted of driving from Texas to Minneapolis to help set fire to a police precinct during the George Floyd protests, federal prosecutors said.

US attorney Erica MacDonald said on Friday that she had charged Ivan Harrison Hunter, a 26-year-old Texas resident, with traveling across state lines to participate in a riot. The charges are the latest example of far-right extremists attempting to use violence to escalate national protests against police brutality into an uprising against the government, and even full civil war.

The case also reveals the extent of the coordination between violent members of the nascent far-right “Boogaloo Bois” movement operating in different cities across the country.
There's 2 or 3 more doing jail time but i think those were Proud Boys.

One of the guys that started the smashing of windows the first day ended up being call the "umbrella man." He came out of Stillwater prison and was a member of the Cowboy Club. It's a white supremacist prison club that extends into 3-4 other state prison systems.

Nice job of pissing backwards.

No. The BLM PROTESTS are NOT in any way analogous to what happened on January 6th, the attempted coup and takeover of our federal government. They were calling for and trying to capture our elected officials, including the Vice President and Speaker of the House.

There were more crimes committed against the BLM protesters than they ever committed themselves. Like the President illegally calling in the military and tear gassing them when he wanted his photo op holding a Bible. He also illegal had foreign journalists attacked that day.

They were protesting police actions and a murder. The Constitution gives them that right. The police should not attack peaceful protesters.

Calls for the resignation of county officials in southeastern Oklahoma continued after they were recorded making racist remarks, including explicit comments about murder and invoking violence harking back to the Jim Crow era. Attorney General Garland to reveal investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is scheduled to be in Minneapolis Friday to announce the results of an extensive investigation into the city's police department — particularly officers’ use of force. The probe is widely expected to result in long-term federal court oversight of the MPD.

In April of 2021, the day after a Hennepin County jury convicted former police officer Derek Chauvin of murdering George Floyd, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the Justice Department would take a close look at the Minneapolis Police Department’s policies, training, supervision, and its use of force.

Culpeper County, VA, sheriff and three other Virginia men with a conspiracy to exchange bribes for law enforcement badges and credentials, federal programs bribery, and honest services fraud.
According to the indictment, from at least April 2019, Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Howard Jenkins accepted cash bribes and bribes in the form of campaign contributions totaling at least $72,500 from Rick Tariq Rahim of Great Falls, Fredric Gumbinner of Fairfax, James Metcalf of Manassas, and at least five others, including two FBI undercover agents.

In return, Jenkins appointed each of the bribe payors as auxiliary deputy sheriffs, a sworn law-enforcement position, and issued them Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office badges and identification cards.

Jenkins told or caused others to tell the bribe payors that those law-enforcement credentials authorized them to carry concealed firearms in all fifty states without obtaining a permit.

Detroit was never going to admit it overstepped in Detroit Will Breathe charges
This is how the City of Detroit's ill-considered three-year prosecution of the leaders of the 2020 George Floyd protests is going:

Tristan Taylor and Nakia Wallace, co-founders of the activist group Detroit Will Breathe, pleaded no contest to the low-level misdemeanor of loitering, receiving delayed sentences. A no contest plea settles a case without an admission of guilt, and the delayed sentences mean that by spring, the charges will be dismissed.

A judge dismissed misdemeanor charges this spring against two more Detroit Will Breathe protesters, Bryan Silverstein and Lloyd Simpson, ruling that after 33 months, the city had violated the activists' right to a speedy trial. The city appealed the dismissals, an extremely unusual course of action — in 2021, 6,345 non-traffic misdemeanors were dismissed by judges in Detroit's 36th District Court, according to state records; in all of Wayne County, just 61 misdemeanor dismissals were appealed that year.

This resource-strapped city has dedicated significant resources to a thus-far fruitless effort to win convictions against these activists.

Why?
and after the city refused to repay the 600 million dollars it overcharged its taxpayers through over assesing the value of their homes.
.....It's worth noting that without the threat of prosecution, neither Silverstein nor Simpson has an incentive to release the city from legal liability.

"When the city's decision to appeal Mr. Simpson's case is viewed in conjunction with the extremely low rate of misdemeanor appeals as well as the city's decision to otherwise make plea offers contingent on defendants willingness to waive their right to sue the city or individual officers, the city's goal appears to be shielding itself from liability,” said Simpson's attorney, Allison Kriger of LaRene and Kriger PLC.......
...."This was purely vindictive on the part of the city, and a complete waste of resources: Money, time, labor, every staff person who was dragged into this because the city refused to concede a battle it had already lost is a poor reflection on the city," Parker said. "The city should be embarrassed. After a federal judgment that lambasted them for all the constitutional violations it inflicted on non-violent protesters, you go to these lengths to prove what point?"

That's part of what rankles, said Matthew Dupree, who is representing Silverstein. Dupree has served as house counsel — a public defender— in 36th District Court for eight years.

"I tried an armed robbery case Wednesday in which the Detroit Police Department had not taken fingerprints at the crime scene, despite being at the crime scene," Dupree said. "The DPD does not have the resources to do basic investigation on a gun crime — armed robbery — but it has the resources to pursue these cases for three years? ... Of all of the things they could be focusing those resources on, it’s this?"....
....Whether you believe that police ought to be reformed or defunded or abolished or left intact, the constitutionally protected right to demand government redress of grievances is at the heart of what it means to be an American.....

NYCLU, THE LEGAL AID SOCIETY, AND ATTORNEY GENERAL JAMES ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT WITH NYPD TO REFORM POLICING OF PROTESTS

NEW YORK CITY – New York Attorney General Letitia James, The Legal Aid Society (LAS), and the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) today announced a landmark agreement with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) that significantly reforms NYPD’s policing of protests to protect the public and members of the press from excessive use of force. Today’s agreement resolves lawsuits filed by Attorney General James, LAS, NYCLU, and other private lawsuits over NYPD’s wrongful arrests and excessive use of force against protesters during the summer of 2020. As a result of today’s agreement, NYPD will be required to change how it deploys officers to public demonstrations to allow New Yorkers to exercise their First Amendment rights free from intimidation or violence.

The centerpiece of the reforms is a new, four-tiered response system that will dictate how NYPD responds to protests, with the primary goal of protecting the rights of protesters. The tiered system will minimize police presence at protests and require NYPD to use de-escalation methods before increasing its response. The system allows for increased NYPD presence and response if protests block major traffic arteries, if protesters engage in unlawful conduct, or other instances that could compromise public safety.
