Rock Hall Class of 2026 Roundtable: Snubs, Surprises and More
When the 2026 class of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees receive their honors at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater on Nov. 14, the artists will represent one of the most diverse classes in the history of the Hall of Fame's 40 years.
Nearly every popular music genre of the past half-century is represented, from rock 'n' roll (Oasis) and heavy metal (Iron Maiden) to soul (Luther Vandross) and hip-hop (Wu-Tang Clan). There will also be punk (Billy Idol), post-punk and new wave (Joy Division and New Order), pop (Phil Collins) and jazz-inspired pop (Sade).

Rock Hall Class of 2026 Roundtable: Snubs, Surprises and More
Re: Rock Hall Class of 2026 Roundtable: Snubs, Surprises and More
Sounds like they're saying that rock is anything they want it to be. Next some obscure classical conductor from the 1990s will get in for doing orchestral renditions of Beatles songs.

I'm surprised Herman's Hermits isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They had 22 hits records in the U.S.. They were among the top five British Invasion bands and in 1965 they outsold The Beatles. Many who are familiar with them think of their songs were novelties but actually quite good with songs like End of the World, There's a Kind of Hush, Silhouettes, What a Wonderful World, Listen People, and No Milk Today.

Herman's Hermits were a great band. Maybe they weren't as in-your-face controversial as heavy metal and acid rock, and so they got overlooked. Like James Taylor, they can laugh all the way to the bank.

True. They were a solid band that was able to produce hit records at a time when rock-n-roll was undergoing a lot of changes. Believe it or not, they're still touring.
