Tom Dannan II projected to win Fairfax County School Board seat in special election
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Tom Dannan II, an independent candidate endorsed by the Democratic Party, is projected to win the Braddock District seat for the Fairfax County School Board after Tuesday night's special election, according to Virginia Department of Elections data.
Dannan secured roughly 65% of the votes (over 6,500 ballots) in an election to fill the seat once held by Rachna Heizer, who resigned after winning her election to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — The Hanover School Board approved making April 21 a day off for schools due to that day's redistricting special election.
In their meeting Tuesday night, the board also approved making May 26 and 27 full instructional days, rather than early release days, to make up for it on the back end.

Voters went to the polls in three parishes Saturday to fill three vacancies in the Louisiana Legislature, deciding two runoffs in the New Orleans area and settling a four-person contest for a Baton Rouge seat outright.
