Wasserman is under growing pressure to resign as LA Olympic chair. The mayor of LA is demanding that he do it. I have an excuse not to drop my life savings on Olympic tickets.

Peter Mandelson was seen being led from his London home by police and taken away in an unmarked car shortly before 16:30
A short time later, the Met Police said it had arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office and had taken him to a London police station for interview
Earlier this month, the Met said it was carrying out a criminal investigation into Mandelson, and officers searched his homes in Wiltshire and Camden
That followed the release of emails by the US Department of Justice (DoJ), which led to allegations that Mandelson had forwarded market-sensitive information to Jeffrey Epstein when he was business secretary under Gordon Brown

Epstein-dogged Larry Summers to quit teaching at Harvard
Fallout from the Epstein files across elite circles of academia deepened Wednesday when Larry Summers, a former treasury secretary and the ex-president of Harvard University, said he will resign from his teaching appointments at the end of the academic year.
Summers has been on leave since November, when a cache of emails released by the House Oversight Committee revealed the extent of his close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Summers subsequently retreated from his public commitments, and since then, documents from the Justice Department’s Epstein files containing the two men’s correspondences have further damaged Summers’ reputation.

Nobel Prize winner named in Epstein files steps down at Columbia University brain institute
Dr Richard Axel, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist at Columbia University, has become the latest big name to emerge in the continuing aftershocks of the US Department of Justice releasing millions of files on the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Axel, whose work Columbia said “has transformed the understanding of how the brain perceives the world and has also led to the production of life-saving protein-based therapy,” said he has stepped down as co-director of the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute and as an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) after his name figured in the Epstein files.

That's what's good about all this. Just about everyone you've heard of who has a net worth over half a billion is on the list somewhere. You know, of course, that half the Epstein documents were never released even after the law ordered them released, and that the unredacted names we do have on the ones we did get to see are the result of some overworked drone at a computer terminal missing a line. They are small leaks from a very large bucket.
It's a good old-fashioned class-based scandal is what it is. People with power getting away with stuff that ordinary people used to get hanged for. This sort of thing started half the revolutions in Europe. It's going to keep on giving here too.

Richard Kahn, Epstein's accountant, tells Congress he didn't know about abuse, saw no red flags in spending
An accountant who worked closely with Jeffrey Epstein for more than a decade and serves as an executor of his estate told members of Congress on Wednesday that he "was not aware of the nature or extent of Epstein's abuse of so many women until after Epstein's death."
Richard Kahn was one of Epstein's closest associates in his final years, managing his finances, investments and other minutiae, such as renovations on Epstein's private Caribbean island. He was subpoenaed to appear before the House Oversight Committee, and testified behind closed doors that he did not socialize with Epstein.

Leon Black, billionaire financier, to be deposed in Epstein victims' suit against Bank of America

Wag the Dog.
Started out with a title card: "It has been said that a dog wags its tail because it is smarter than the tail. If the tail were smarter than the dog, the tail would wag the dog."
As I noted when all this started, that movie was about a president who declared a fake war with Albania to distract from a sex scandal. There remains a very real possibility that the real war with half the Middle East was at least partially intended to distract from a sex scandal, not to mention the fact that otherwise Netanyahu would be on trial for corruption.
