We were told that cost of living issues, which are basically caused by population growth and the resulting shortages that get manipulated by the rich to get richer at everyone else's expense, are what got trump elected.

If so, it seems most bizarre that the current leaders of this country have done everything they could to make the problem worse.

I hope people pick up the money and spend it on food. This may be the only way that wealth ever trickles down, literally in this case.

Breaking: Air Canada CRJ-900 Collides With Fire Truck At LaGuardia, Fatalities Reported

An Air Canada Express Bombardier CRJ-900 has collided with a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport (LGA), with unconfirmed reports suggesting at least two fatalities and dozens of critical injuries. Presser around 1:45 PM PDT on both CNN and MSNOW had much talk and absolutely nothing of substance. The initial story seems to be that the ground controller cleared a fire truck on the way to another emergency to cross the runway. He then started yelling STOP STOP STOP but it was too late.

Much speculation at the presser on whether the controller was the only one in the tower at that hour of the night, and whether he was working ground control and air traffic control (two different nets and frequencies) at the same time. The FAA guy wouldn't say.

Another presser, aired so late that most people gave up and missed it.

There were two controllers at work. One for the approaches and takeoffs, one for ground control.

The fire truck was responding to another emergency clear across the airport, and the truck did not have an ADS-B transponder. Airplanes all have to have these, and at LAX every vehicle on the tarmac must have one. It produces a real-time map of where everyone is that controllers (and people following on the ADSBX online app) can see. Apparently they're not mandatory at LGA.

Meanwhile some other airports have 4-8 hour waits to get through security because TSA workers aren't being paid, so a lot of them stopped coming to work. They were replaced by ICE goons who had no training or orders, and so they just stand around looking scary and doing nothing to help.

Air Canada CEO to retire after condolence-video controversy

[He delivered the condolence speech only in English, though Montreal is francophonic and Canada uses both languages. -Z]

Rousseau, who lives in Montreal but is an anglophone, had come under fire for his French language skills in the past, including shortly after he was appointed as CEO of Air Canada in 2021.

At the time, Rousseau apologised and committed to improving his French.

Air Canada began as a federal public corporation and has been private since 1988. It is subject to Canada's Official Languages Act, however, and announcements on board planes are made in both English and French.
