Oh, right, this is “weaponization of government”, right, conservatives?
And now DonOld Trump will start campaigning on how he's going to help poor, elderly, and homeless like Rudy Giuliani.

Don't worry, our conservatives will whine that it's "weaponizing government" against the innocent Trumpers.

Agreed. Rudy is no use to Trump anymore, so Trump will let him flounder, but he probably WILL complain about “weaponization of government”.

Los Angeles Times editorials editor resigns after owner blocks presidential endorsement

Mariel Garza, the editorials editor of the Los Angeles Times, resigned on Wednesday after the newspaper’s owner blocked the editorial board’s plans to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

“I am resigning because I want to make it clear that I am not okay with us being silent,” Garza told me in a phone conversation. “In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up.”

1960s civil rights protesters who staged historic sit-in finally have arrest records cleared

Simon Bouie told his mother and grandmother he wasn’t going to get in trouble back in 1960. Then the Black Benedict College student sat at a whites-only lunch counter in South Carolina and got himself arrested.

Finally on Friday, that arrest and the records of six of his friends were erased as a judge signed an order during a ceremony in a Columbia courthouse just a few blocks from where he sat at that segregated table some 64 years before.

Texas man punched an election worker who told him to remove Trump hat at voting site, police say

A Texas man who wore a hat supporting former President Donald Trump punched an election worker who told him that wearing items endorsing a candidate are prohibited at voting sites, a sheriff said Friday.

The election worker, identified as a 69-year-old man, was treated at the scene Thursday and returned to his election post at a San Antonio library on Friday, officials said. The suspect was arrested on felony charges of assaulting an elderly person and could face additional charges, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

Trump Staffer Fired After Calling Out ‘Grift and Greed’

A Trump campaign worker has been fired after trying to blow the whistle on what she called “grift and greed” by top campaign officials—and an alleged “bugging” plot, the Daily Beast reports.

The worker wrote an explosive email after she was fired detailing her concerns about how the campaign’s most senior leaders, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, appear to be funneling millions of dollars to companies which, she alleges, are overcharging Donald Trump.

Yankees fans who tried to pry ball from Dodgers' Mookie Betts banned from World Series Game 5

The pair of New York Yankees fans who attempted to pry a Gleyber Torres foul ball from Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts' glove on Tuesday night during Game 4 of the World Series have been banned for Wednesday night's Game 5. An MLB official confirmed the Game 5 ban to the New York Post,

Betts appeared incensed at the moment in Game 4, with replays showing that the fans had not only attempted to interfere with his glove, but had grabbed onto his free hand when he attempted to transfer the ball and show the umpire. Torres was deemed out on fan interference and the fans, who identified themselves to ESPN as Austin Capobianco (a season ticket holder) and John Peter, were escorted out of Yankee Stadium by security.

Big Ten issues statement regarding Michigan State-Michigan scuffle

Big Ten officials have reviewed the footage related to an end-of-game scuffle at the end of the Michigan State-Michigan game Saturday night. In a statement released on Tuesday, the league called the footage inconclusive and will not be handing out any discipline.

With Michigan leading, the Wolverines lined up in victory formation and snapped the ball for one final kneel-down to end the game. As the clock began running, an altercation between one Spartan defender and Michigan tight end Colston Loveland sparked a widespread melee.

Bob Costas is retiring as an MLB play-caller after a career that lasted more than 40 years.
Costas, 72, called MLB games for 44 years, the vast majority of that with NBC. He started there in 1980 and over the years provides play-by-play for three World Series and 10 championship series. He also expanded beyond baseball, most notably hosting NBC's Olympic coverage for several years. He began calling games for TBS in 2020 following the end of his contract with NBC in 2019.

Costas will also retire from calling games on MLB Network, where he has been since the channel began broadcasting in 2009.

According to Marchand, Costas made the decision to retire from play-by-play work before the 2024 season began, which happened to coincide with the end of his contract with TBS.

I could never stand him on the air with his I am a baseball purist. Always opposing expanded playoffs or other innovations.

However I did meet him once at a charity baseball game and he was very nice
